Do you want to be more productive?
Are you getting distracted from your work easily?
Then you are in the right place!
So you are probably here because you are distracted, so going through different websites in the hope of answers is part of the problem… but stay with me here, I have been there too, if somebody else can do it why can't you, right? Well that is partly correct, different people have different ways of working, and in this post i'm going to share with you my process for getting work done.
IT STARTS NOW. Don't worry, I will keep this short and sweet!
But yes, it starts NOW. The way I work, is to stop thinking about what can go wrong, and instead focus on the problem in hand. When you are thinking in the moment instead of the future, your mind works in a whole different way, a way where you can get lost within the task for 2 hours without realising.
Hesitation and procrastination used to be a big factor in my life. I used to come up for excuses for everything, which was a bad thing to do when school & college deadlines were around in my life. I always think, "if I just did this, then I would have got a much better result in that coursework". And that's why I have the mindset that I do now.
Instead of pushing important work aside, just make a start, small progress is still progress, and 9 times out of 10, you will want to keep going because your mind is an incredible piece of kit. With the right playlist, environment and tools, you can accomplish anything!
If you are struggling with a creative block, then change your environment! Go out for a walk, run or drive, and just look around. It could take 5 minutes, or 5 hours, but during the time you are away from your work, you could find just what you need to start creating.
In my experience, I create lots of signage for local and national businesses, so on my way to & from work, I will be looking at how others have designed a sign, or vehicle graphics, and use that as a base for my design later that day.
I hope this piece of advice helps you on your way, and remember, if something needs doing, don't put it off, just make a start, and see where that start gets you. You may surprise yourself!
